Angel tree and adoptathon information Minimize

PLEASE VISIT OUR ANGEL TREE AT AGRIFEED PET SUPPLY STORE on Middlebrook Pike.  This is our 2nd year joining with Small Breed Rescue in putting up the Angel Tree and last year is was a wonderful success.  Even though our foster kids did not get adopted before Christmas, they all received special treats on Christmas day - THANKS TO YOU!!  Please stop by there, select the dog that you want to sponsor, and find their wish list on the back of their ornaments.  All items can be purchased and left at Agrifeed.  The homeless cockers thank you very much!!!

Please join us at our two adoptathons each month and meet some of our adoptable cocker kids.  We are at Mast General Store in downtown Knoxville on Gay Street on the first Saturday of each month from 1-3.  We are also Agrifeed Pet Supply Store on Middlebrook Pike on the third Saturday of each month from 1:30-4.  (We will not be at Agrifeed in November.)

Our biggest need, next to donations, is foster homes.  We have to turn away many cockers each week because we do not have anywhere for them to go.  If you are interested in being a short term foster home for a very deserving cocker friend, please let us know.  We provide the vetting, grooming, and food - you provide love, warmth, and compassion.

 What We Do Minimize

Cocker Companions Rescue's goal is to help unwanted cocker spaniels in the East Tennessee area to find permanent, loving  homes.  Our dogs come from a variety of sources including shelters and owner surrenders.  WE DO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS TO APPROVED APPLICANTS.

 Adoption Requirements Minimize

Cocker Companions Rescue requires that the adopter be at least 21 years old and show proof of residency.  In addition, we do not place dogs in families with children under 3 years old. This is precautionary, since in many cases we do not know the complete history of the dogIf you rent, we will ask to see a copy of your lease to verify that pets are allowed. Depending on the dog, we do not mandate that you have a fenced in back yard, but will check to see if existing fencing is secure.

Also, you will need to fill out an Adoption Application and Adoption Agreement. Both can be found here: Adoption Application

Medical

Cocker Companions Rescue will ensure that the dog is up to date on all shots, neutered or spayed, microchipped, and is heartworm negative. If the dog is not old enough to be neutered or spayed, we will require that you have this done and will follow up with you.  If you adopt a dog that has specific medical issues, we may make arrangements to have procedures or surgeries done after the adoption. These arrangements will vary depending on the specific dog. We will turn over to you all medical information that we have obtained on the dog.

 Adoption Fees Minimize

An adoption fee of $250.00 helps defer some  medical treatment costs (examinations, spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm check and micro-chipping) transportation costs, and kenneling provided before the cocker is adopted. Seniors (older than 8 years) and special needs (medical/physical) may be adopted at a reduced fee. Puppies adoption fee is $300.00.
