Cocker Companions Rescue requires that the adopter be at least 21 years old and show proof of residency. In addition, we do not place dogs in families with children under 3 years old. This is precautionary, since in many cases we do not know the complete history of the dog. If you rent, we will ask to see a copy of your lease to verify that pets are allowed. Depending on the dog, we do not mandate that you have a fenced in back yard, but will check to see if existing fencing is secure.
Also, you will need to fill out an Adoption Application and Adoption Agreement. Both can be found here: Adoption Application
Medical
Cocker Companions Rescue will ensure that the dog is up to date on all shots, neutered or spayed, microchipped, and is heartworm negative. If the dog is not old enough to be neutered or spayed, we will require that you have this done and will follow up with you. If you adopt a dog that has specific medical issues, we may make arrangements to have procedures or surgeries done after the adoption. These arrangements will vary depending on the specific dog. We will turn over to you all medical information that we have obtained on the dog.
